When the first electric Maseratis will arrive in Australia

Maserati is gearing up to launch its first electric cars in Australia during the first quarter of 2025.

Electric versions of the Grecale SUV, GranTurismo coupe, and GranCabrio convertible are all bound for our shores, with the first customer cars due in the first quarter of 2025.

The first electric Maseratis to land in showrooms will be the GranTurismo Folgore and Grecale Folgore.

Demonstrators of each will be here before the end of 2024, but the first customer cars will be rolling into driveways in January 2025 according to Maserati Australia managing director Grant Barling.

The GranCabrio Folgore is due to arrive around March or April 2025.

Driven by three 300kW permanent magnet electric motors – one up front and two at the rear – the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore generate combined maximum outputs of 610kW of power and a mind-blowing 1350Nm of torque.

That’s well up on the 410kW of power and 650Nm on offer in the most powerful GranTurismo with V6 power, the Trofeo.

The Grecale Folgore packs 410kW and 820Nm from its dual-motor powertrain, up on the 390kW and 620Nm on offer in the V6-powered Grecale Trofeo petrol.

Don’t be fooled though – Maserati isn’t abandoning petrol power in Australia.

Mr Barling committed to keeping the mild-hybrid and V6 versions of the Grecale on sale alongside the Folgore, unlike Porsche which is axing its petrol Macan to make room for its electric replacement.

“At the moment we have the mild-hybrid, we have a version of the GT and the Modena but we have a mild-hybrid, and we also have the V6,” he told CarExpert.

“The customer can choose whether they want mild-hybrid, V6, or Folgore… let’s see where the market shifts, what the customer demand is.”

It’s the same story with the GranTurismo; Maserati won’t be forcing the EV down buyers’ throats, and instead will let demand dictate supply.

The first petrol-powered examples of the GranTurismo will hit local showrooms around September 2024, with the GranCabrio to follow before the end of 2024.
